The Basics
At our core Flyber wants to make flying easy. Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) are an amazing group of people with very specific skill sets and needs. It’s our mission to connect those with the skills with those who need these skills.
We gather Flight Instructors (CFI’s of all certification levels) and allow them to post on our platform for free, advertising their services. So if you’re a CFI – independent or affiliated with a Flight School, we want you! We’ve made the posting process as streamlined as possible so as to remove as many barriers from you and your potential clients. Additionally, we work hard to expand your potential clients by doing marketing legwork for you so you can cast the net as wide as possible.
If you are searching for services, whether that be an experienced Flight Instructor or a flight school in general to help you get to that wide-body flying over oceans or because you’ve always wanted to fly an airplane, this is where you can connect with the right person to help you! You can find a growing catalogue of fantastic people offering these services. You can compare prices and find the best fit for your needs. Additionally, you can rate your service provider to help them rank higher in our system so that others can see how much you enjoyed the person you worked with.
The instructor/student relationship is highly nuanced and exceedingly important. Make sure you’ve found the right CFI for you. If you go to a flight school, they will simply assign you the least busy CFI – you don’t get any say. CFI’s are talented and therefore can be expensive. Protect your investment, find the best fit for you.
Lastly, we allow for users – those looking for services – to post for free what services they are requesting. This is a simple request form and does require registration, though it is completely free. The user gets to define the price for the requested service. So if all you need is a simple Instrument Proficiency Check or maybe even a Ferry Flight for your new airplane, let the community know here!
Financials
Through our platform you can easily search, find and schedule meetings with the partner of your choice. We provide a marketplace where payment can be made directly through the platform to the person offering their services. To keep the lights on, we apply a %15 commission on the buyer who books the CFI. Call it a minimal “finder’s fee”. You will find that industry-wide, this is a very minimal charge and it is our aim to keep any charges as low as possible. Most Flight Schools charge between $40-$80/hr for flight instruction and keep nearly 50% of the profit from that instruction. This mean CFI’s are often earning close to minimum wage for their hard, high liability work. Aviation is already expensive, we want to help remove that barrier. Furthermore, by using a commission structure, you can be assured that we are working to provide vendors as much business as possible and users can know that we are trying to provide the best vendors possible. We are motivated to help you fly. We are motivated to provide the best CFI’s in the industry.
If you secure a booking with one of our vendors, to protect your money, we only allow payout to the vendor after the event has occurred. We do charge a “no-show” fee up to %50 the cost of initial booking to protect the time of our talented service providers. This is a default setting for us, however the service provider has the right to waive this “no-show” fee at their discretion.
Payouts are done manually by Flyber to make sure they are accurate and fair.
Liability
Flyber does not assume any insurance liability for either party. As a platform that simply connects people and allows for easy scheduling and payment, we do not vet parties nor verify insurance and FAA maintenance or currency requirements. It is entirely up to the vendors and users to verify credentials, insurance, FAA compliance/legality and maintenance.
Flyber reserves the right to remove vendors and users from the platform.
